Many people in the area know Lisa Boettner and her big gray horse After FX (affectionately called Vegas at home) from the success the pair has achieved in the hunter, jumper, and equitation rings. Lisa and her husband, Bill, own and operate Silver Chase Farm. In January of 2009, after years of competing as an amateur (with a successful foray into the professional divisions in 2008), Lisa decided to make horses her profession. |
| In the latter years of her amateur riding career she was
quite fortunate to have had opportunities to ride and train
with several successful and well-respected professionals; this
breadth of experience exposed Lisa to a wide variety of teaching
and training methods from which she draws when formulating training
plans for her own students and their horses.
Growing up on a farm provided Lisa with vast experience in the nuances of successfully managing a farm property, and taught her how to be "hands on" with farm operations. She learned the basics of excellent horsemanship by taking care of her own horses, and knows the value of a hard day's work. It also instilled in her the importance of carefully cultivating relationships with animals, and gave her a tremendous respect for the power, beauty, grace, and complexity of horses. This philosophy is evidenced in her gentle but firm way of handling and training green and problem horses. |
